Verizon invalid destination address

I have a peculiar issue. My brother has iPhone 6 (ATT). I have Samsung 6 (Verizon). Phone #'s are valid and operate. Messaging (both ways) gets an invalid address message. My wife iPhone6 (Verizon) works fine for both of us sending and receiving. Contact lists have been checked. Any ideas?.
